This was my last bottle and I think this is on the back side of peaking. While still tasty, the one I drank January 2014 had more life and was more enjoyable. ...time to drink up!

Cassis continues to dominate, but there is a plum undertone and also some flinty characteristics. In one word, rustic.... Continue to hold if you've got them.
The wine looks crimson colored. Aroma's and flavor exhibiting secondary characteristics. Moderate sediment. Aromatic, with a medium/full body and a long finish. On the palate, the structure came across as well-integrated and almost chewy. The wine has leathery texture, low oak, low acidity. As I drank it, I was thinking it'd be sourced from a Rutherford vineyard and was surprised to see that it was broadly sourced as a Napa Cab. I'm not familiar enough to know if Madrigal always makes such a distinctive expressions, but I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of theirs. A very enjoyable bottle we had without food.

Popped and poured; no formal notes. I recall this being really good. Held its own against a stiff line-up of others including an '06 Chappellet Pritchard Hill. Drink or hold. No rush here.

Somewhat more enjoyable than the previous offering - a tannic and dry styled, almost rustic cab; as previously noted the cassis and vanilley flavors dominate, but this time around am also getting some teriyaki beef jerky and olive tapenade undertones. Should cellar quite well for another 5+ years with no problems.
