Dark in color with no bricking. Blackberry, currant, cigar and spice notes. This has a crispness to it, like biting into a red apple. The only thing that lets you know this has some age is the integration and silky mouthfeel. Refined and well done.

Really nice, fragrant, balanced cab. Fruit is still fresh with no signs of significant fading.Tannins are pretty much non-existent but still providing a complex palate. Enough acidity so that it is not flabby in the mouth. Medium to long finish. Sorry it is my last bottle.

The 2005 was very good. Inky, balanced from start to finish, great nose, soft tannins, and a long finish. My wife and I were comparing this wine to a 2006 Opus that we drank recently. The 2005 Madrigal was noticeably better. Oddly, I smelled hints of a smokey scotch in the glass--which was interesting.
