(Schloss Johannisberg Spatlese (Grunlack)) This has started to close down. It still has beautiful slatey, fresh red fruits and a haunting elegance but never really got around to where it was this summer even after two days open. This is a great wine and one of the Rheingau Spatlesen of the vintage but bury it as the big sleep has started on this wine.

(Schloss Johannisberg Spatlese) Haunting nose of kaffir lime, celeriac, ,mineral and earth. Very floral too. Concentrated and very intense on the palate with an elegance that reminded me of Donnhoff. Fleshy pitted stone fruits on the long echoing finish. The concentration is very very impressive and the length is incredible. Genius wine. This is not the Schloss Johannisberg of old.

Beautiful wine at a peak. Silky texture, pure peach and apricot fruit, acidity and sugar totally integrated. Cellared since original release.

sorry this was my last 2005 - was really nice balanced acidity and sweetness - stilling also refreshing you get a lot of peach and some light citrus good long aftertaste.

A almost mature but still very elegant spatlase - the wine has a medium acidity but it is very well balanced with the swetness - I get some peach and some light citrus

A very nice spatlese - with a good medium + body. A nice fruit palette where peach and abricot are very clear - the sugar level is still relatively high. Good finish and clearly worth keping in your cellar for some more years
