This wine is still fantastic! It's flavors are very dark and deep, with smokey creme de cassis, Mesopotamian spices, and intense blueberry compote goodness. The winemaker (Stephan Asseo) is a genius of fruit development, combining new & old world viticulture, and a master manipulator of blending.

Final bottle from a 4 pack. Last consumed a bottle ~3 yrs prior. Mocha, peppermint, blue and black fruits, blueberry syrup, fire embers. This is a thick and heavy wine, very flavorful and concentrated, with not enough acidity for my preference. Silky tannins, full bodied, drink through 2024+.

My sense is that this is a wine with the potential to get better with another 3-5 years of aging... and I hope to weigh in after a few more years. Great now... with a sense that it will be terrific in a couple more years!

A Few Wines Tasted at Lisa and Sheldon's Engagement Party (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Small glass tasted double blind, brief note. Bright New World aromas and flavors with lots of ripe black fruit, slightly sweet spice and good depth. Overall good balance. I would never have expected a L'Aventure to be drinking this well at this age. Definitely still a good wine.
