  • Wine was still lively despite age but had a harshness and one dimensionality that I didnt like. Drank without decant but even after wine sitting in decanter for a few hours didn't change the character. Perhaps it was just not a good match for turkey. The wine was medium body, good acidity, soft tannins, quite bitter, subdued bambly fruit, garrique notes.

  • Somewhat corked, though at was barely noticeable at first. Under that, pretty nice wine, solid and with good flavour. Good mouthfeel and balance, medium length. Worth another look soon.

  • 14% alcohol. Average sized cork, not particularly dense, but with no wine penetration; substantial staining on the side of the bottle. Decanted an hour ahead.
Very dark colour with no sign of ageing. The nose is vivacious, with a black olive component. The mouth follows suit, with garrigue and some liquorice; pretty substantial acidity in the finish, and very good grip, but no hard tannins.
A food wine of course; went well with Iberico pork chops, beetroot and king oyster mushrooms.
Drinking fine now (for those who understand the rôle of acidity in red wines), but should improve for the next five years and last another ten years afterwards.
Definitely not as complex or multilayered as the recent Gonon 2010, but very enjoyable nevertheless.

  • dark red fruits, black cherry, vanilla, slight spiciness. tannins are resolving, though could use another year or two. Body is medium weight but with a fruity dense core. Not nearly as hot as the last time, either bottle variation or the wine is integrating.
