Slightly burnt fruit taste, a little disappointing but that was due to very high expectations. Tasted two bottles and the second was surprisingly different with less burnt notes. Not a fruit wine

I had a bottle of this back in February and I’m not sure this could show more differently - very earthy/ funky, with leather notes - very much not about the fruit.
Sitting here with a glass of this two days after opening, and I continue to be surprised at how different this bottle showed than the one I had in February. This feels almost Autumnal - the wine itself never felt flawed, but it’s quite the contrast from my last bottle in only four months time.
I still have a couple bottles left and I will be very curious to see how they show.

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Very good shoing among stiff competition tonight. Rich and generous, buffered by well judged tannins.

Ripe and delicious. This is certainly a big wine for this producer, reflective of the vintage. Almost 15 years post-vintage, and to me 2009 has evolved into a Burgundy vintage for lovers of California Pinot.
The red fruit is more dominant on the palate, but a pretty even mix of red & black fruit on the nose. Feels at peak to me - how long it stays here is anybody's guess. I also have the 2008 in the cellar, and I think the next time I try this. I will do them side-by-side, which I'm guessing will only serve to underscore what a ripe vintage 2009 was.

Served blind. Sweetest of the flight (w/ Boillot and Rossignol), did not fully open on day 1 but went much better on day 2.
