Dark red color. Nose of mushroom when first opened. Palate of mushroom initially and transitioned to plum and some mint after opening up. Medium length.

Big fruit and alcohol on the nose when first opened, almost as soon as the cork was out of the bottle. First mouthful disappointing with a 'big' new world style. However, rapidly changed to a stunning classic. Lots of fruit, smooth delicate tannins, lovely velvet mouth feel. Beautiful.

Last tasted a year ago almost to the day. Ripe dark fruit on the nose, just a bit confected. This is dense and grapey on the palate, but now this is showing more Burgundian than New World compared to prior tastings of this wine. Long on the palate, balancing out. Now its terroir is apparent. This should age well over the next 3-5 years. Lovely for its level. I think so many of these '09s have serious potential once their fruit starts to fade.

Big and ripe, is it the temperature where it was popped or just the wine? Do not recall it being such a fruit bomb.
