Dark red color. Nose of mushroom when first opened. Palate of mushroom initially and transitioned to plum and some mint after opening up. Medium length.

Big fruit and alcohol on the nose when first opened, almost as soon as the cork was out of the bottle. First mouthful disappointing with a 'big' new world style. However, rapidly changed to a stunning classic. Lots of fruit, smooth delicate tannins, lovely velvet mouth feel. Beautiful.

Last tasted a year ago almost to the day. Ripe dark fruit on the nose, just a bit confected. This is dense and grapey on the palate, but now this is showing more Burgundian than New World compared to prior tastings of this wine. Long on the palate, balancing out. Now its terroir is apparent. This should age well over the next 3-5 years. Lovely for its level. I think so many of these '09s have serious potential once their fruit starts to fade.

Last tasted about a year ago. Now, this is more Chambolle on the nose and palate, with dense and concentrated black berries and stone fruit, long on the midpalate and finish, softening tannins, requisite mineral streak. Still a big and ripe Chambolle, but now quietly speaking of its terroir. The fruit here is mellowing, no longer screaming '09. Fun to drink -- I enjoyed this. This should continue to age well.

This wine saved me tonight. Had dinner with three business friends and one asked me to pick a burg that he will pay. Given burg sky high prices in Asian restaurants I had to find a bottle that will not break my friend's wallet but pleased everyone at the table. . . Tasting note: medium garnet. Aromas of red fruit with toast and oak, intermixed with sweet spices, quite modern but in a good way. Elegant palate with good mid mouth feel and excellent aromatics, especially for a village level wine. Great burg in this price range.

Dark raspberry/cranberry red color. Scents of ripe red fruit (cherries, raspberries & cranberries) eucalyptus, herbs and alcohol. (drank outside in the lovely summer evening heat). Succulent red fruit, sour cherries, soft tannins, smooth, slight green pepper & heat during the finish. I think this cb a crowd pleaser!

Six months to the day -- couldn't help myself, thought I try another bottle to pair with ragu bolognese. This is still quite ripe but evolving. No longer coming off exclusively like a brutish Northern Rhone (although it could still pass for one), it is showing some traits of Chambolle both on the nose and palate, brimming with dense, ripe red and black fruit with some iron and earth. This is just so ripe, concentrated, and "09 in character, a tough drink if you like your burgs classic and transparent and weightless. But it does have good mouthfeel and overall length, and this improved with time and air. So I do stand corrected from 6 months back -- but this remains a hold, but I'm now optimistic that this youngster will likely show well in the future, probably hit its stride in 2-3 years. I'll figure to follow this one every 6 months or so.

Dark fruit on nose/palate, but not jammy. Certainly more fruit-forward than expected from village/producer, likely due to vintage, but still enjoyable. Drinking well now and not sure if time will improve it.

Really could not drink this on day one. Super ripe nose. Palate was laden with ripe dark fruit, kir, blueberry pancake syrup, some flowers and minerals. Would have guessed Syrah blind, maybe New World northern Rhone. Day two -- nose is still ripe but now restrained. The dark fruit is now more in check, the minerality more pronounced. Does not drink like anything Chambolle. My wife said "no way this is burgundy" having tasted this blind tonight. This is a hold for 2-3 years with a prayer to the burgundy gods that the fruit dissipates and some terroir comes forth.

Big and ripe, is it the temperature where it was popped or just the wine? Do not recall it being such a fruit bomb.

Very different from the impression i had. This was slightly rustic almost modern like. Slightly awkward i feel.

Great value esp at below $30. Cherries, earthy and great finish seem to be even better in the Zalto.
