Got a taste from another bottle with very little of the spice I noted previously, and based on others' impression, it seems I got an anomalously spicy bottle the first time. Good value either way...

Initially too dominated by black pepper for me. On subsequent days the spice tones down, with pepper and clove nicely mingling with berries. Moderate tannins.

(14.9%) 50% Zinfandel, 40% Syrah, 10% Carignane – Dark purple in color with warm briary, berry fruit and spice on the nose. It starts with almost candied plum and cherry before a firm acidic structure emerges on the mid-palate to maintain balance. From there it turns oaky and creamy showing vanilla on the finish which thins quickly. From there it lingers on nicely (albeit a bit hot) with a bit of spice and dusty chocolate. This wine is plush, comfortable (familiar) and fruity. An easy drinker for a $5 spot. Don’t over think this one and you likely won’t be disappointed.

Purple color, light to medium bodied. Little tannin, not sweet, some black fruit-brambly flavors. Better an hour after decanting. Alch 14.9%
