Garnet center with fading. More green herb than fruit on the nose. Light, lean blackberry and thyme with a deep core of soil and stone. As best I can tell from my prior note in 2015, the fruit has receded a bit, but not to the point of being too dried out. Very much a vin de terroir, and notably good for a minor 12 year old cru Beaujolais. I have no idea about more recent vintages, but I've enjoyed Piron wines from this era for their stoniness and sense of soil.

First of two for me. Ruby to garnet in color with light bricking at the edges. Strong graphite aroma, along with some funk, matchstick, and dark and dark red fruits. Medium (+) body and finish, medium acid, luscious mouthfeel, just enough tannic grip to give some structure, and flavors of black cherry, cassis, and again a notable mineral core. This really smells and tastes like it grew through rocky soil. Fuller and richer than many Beaujolais; clearly a serious wine. Solid juice.
