ABV: 14.0%. Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Colorino (varietals on back label without percentages). Loads of plums on the nose mixed with Mediterranean herbs and anise. At approximately 18-years-old, this is still a pretty big wine. Well-integrated acidity on the mid-palate that lifts the fruit, but there’s still some tannins remaining. Good, solid, lengthy finish. There’s good potential with this wine so I’ll have to revisit this tomorrow (if I remember), but I don’t think it’s ready to drink yet. If you’re planning to open your bottle soon, decant it for at least an hour and hopefully that’ll open it up. However, I’d suggest keeping it in the cellar until the 25-year mark (2031) if you have the patience.
3/31/2024 - Raised the score by four points (from 92 to 96). Just as I suspected, this wine opened up overnight and is now exploding with fruit. The nose didn’t really change much, but on the palate, it’s just one delicious, juicy drink. Loads and loads of ripe plums and bramble berries that’s lifted by the acidity. The tannins are softer than yesterday, but it still has some grip. A much lengthier finish than yesterday with gushing fruit. I hope that I have another bottle of this in the cellar so I can see how it develops with more aging.

A complete triumph! Outstanding depth and freshness. It has clearly seen a ton of oak, surely too much for a lesser wine. But here it is perfectly matched by a remarkably strong and juicy fruit essence. At 20€, simply a tremendous value for an enchanting and memorable bottle. Bravo!

Still Outstanding. Shame it's the last bottle. Layers of rich heady fruit coat the pallet with soft, velvety tannins. Want more.
