Tasted over 2 hrs -med rich gold -lanolin oxidative notes -med acidity very nicely balancing, med- weight faint citrus tang mineral saline maderized caramel butterscotch -this is really advanced but has some interesting minerality and acidity that makes me think this was fantastic before the oxidative notes appeared

Truly a singular Aligote. Not a fair comparison from the age standpoint, so it is hard to tell what is terroir and what is time, but a beautiful and unique rendition of Aligote. Fuller bodied, with overt oak and oxidation on the nose. This wine is at once austere and simultaneously rich. Lemons and nuts, a little little impression of wood floor cleaning polish, with textures that alternate between sensations of smooth and coarse. A real treat to taste and especially to taste across from several other Aligotes. Great juxtaposition of flavors and textures.

I guess these vines were 98 years old when this wine was made. Pretty incredible they still choose to make this 1er Cru monopole above Clos de la Roche with 100% Aligoté. This definitely has the most wood of the four Aligoté's consumed tonight, but there's also far more depth and elegance. This is a much more serious wine. The aromas are creamy and nutty... it's like walking through a combined apple and almond orchard (every other tree). There's also a mineral streak on the nose that's quite nice. Very rich, round nuttiness coating the palate. The finish hits initially with acid, but you also have a lot of intense, round rich oak sweetness. The acid lingers really beautifully as well though, and I love that lemony tartness. Perhaps some orange, too. Lots of almond skins lingering. Everyone else I had this with seemed a bit put off by the oak, and I get that, yes, it's more oaky than the other wines, but there's something here that absolutely more serious, complete, and elegant. Just a lot more going on than any other Bourgogne-Aligoté. But it does make you wonder... there's aspects of this wine where you're like, "WOW, that is a very serious wine!" It feels like it has incredible material underlying, but I feel like it should still be better than it is, and do think there is perhaps too much oak balance in this vintage. But... still very nice.

Not sure what to make of this. Nose chalk full of marshmallow and citrus fruits. Ripe citrus fruits and a little roundness in the mouth had me thinking "2009 flab," but then a minerally, almost bitter finish sweeps in to refresh the palate. Certainly not a profound or especially lovable wine, but complex and thought-provoking.
