  • I am working on updating inventory. This note is being written after the fact. This bottle was shared by J. Z. at a central jersey ct group off-line tasting held at Peking Duckhouse (midtown location). I cannot recall any other details. I have a vague recollection of the wine being slightly oxidized. Possible problem with provenance?

  • Really showing well right now -- I'm very very happy with the 1999s at this point...Very layered and complex on the palate..everything I look for in great Champange.

  • No detailed notes taken due to Dinner circumstances, but great yeast, citrus, mineral flavors on this one.

  • Varietals; 60% Pinot Noir/40% Chardonnay
Aromas; lemon/lemon blossom/lemon zest tangles with orange blossom/orange zest, slight hints of apricot, jewish rye, pumpernickle, saffron, butter, pulses of bitter apples
Palate; lemon/lemon zest, orange blossom/orange zest, nuances of apricots, jewish rye/pumpernickle,saffron, pulses of bitter apples
Mid-palate; the body/acidity of this wine are impressive; lemon zest/lemon blossom, orange zest/orange blossom, apricot, buttered wheat toast, saffron, pumpernickle notes
Finish; lemon/petrol/orange blossom/orange zest/apricots, flashes of bitter red/green apples, buttered wheat toast, saffron, pumpernickle/jewish rye - a really snappy, zesty finish.
I think this could be one of the best champagnes for the dollar/pricetag.Chartogne-Taillet planted to 12 hectares.6,700 cases produced. Chalk-sandstone soil. Estate is 50% PN/40% Chard/10% PM

  • Pretty good but not as nice as I remembered. Nice biscuit to the nose but not a particularly good finish.
