  • From 75cl, short but v.g. cork, P+P. Beautiful scent of rich, Syrah-like, ripe wine, new oak treatment; the entry shows blackberry fruit, some eucalyptus, cloves a in a half-Port / half-Northern Rhône style; a little short on the finish, with smooth ripe tannins. A terrific match with beefsteak and truffled potatoes. Yes, I'd definitely buy half a case for the cellar. 90P

    My Words:

Appearance is of deep red-purplish color with thin transparent rim. No legs, but poured with some fizz.

Aroma: Strong aroma of alcohol and wood with evident vannilla and plum on the back. Some chocolate aswell.

Taste: Woody, slightly gamey on the front with cherry and vanilla on the mid palate. Fruit forward, nonetheless. Slightly barnyard-ish on the back.

Palate: Balanced. Opens up very well. Good structure. Medium tannin bitterness. Medium acidity. Velvety. Slight residual sweetness.

Overall: Decent for a 18€ bottle. Would have benefited from further aeration, as it did open up very well thoroughout. But still, one would expect deeper complexity.
