  • Darker, fruit forward style characteristic of '09 OR vintage. Well made with creaminess note.

  • IPNC Lunches and Dinners; 7/26/2013-7/27/2013 (McMinnville OR): A personal favorite at lunch today, first time ever having wine from this producer. Great Asian five spice start with lots of red fruit and floral hints. Young vineyards with accessible and forward character but also potential for upside with its fine tannins and elegant acidity.

  • Head to head against the Luminous Hills Lux; popped, poured, and drank over 4 hours. Ramped up quickly and at hour 1, Astra was open for business. A light bodied and delicate PN, which makes it a great pairing candidate for fish; especially salmon. Although feminine in style, this juice is anything but a wallflower; offering a big and beautiful blueberry foundation that's backed up by notes of vanilla and sarsaparilla. Very lovely and drinking better than ever. Drink now - 2015. 91 pts.

  • Decanted 3 hours and consumed over 5 hours. Head-to-head against the ’09 Luminous Hills Lux (89 pts). Whereas the Lux was a bit shut down and reserved on the nose, the Arista had good intensity on the nose and is completely open for business; but it did take 3 hours in the decant to get there. Aromatics of sweet candied blackberry & vanilla that stayed consistent throughout the evening. Light-bodied style, balanced acidity, and really amazing fruit cobbler taste that opened up in the 4-5 hour mark. Probably not constructed for the long haul, but should shine in this window through 2017.

  • Decanted for over an hour after not getting too much on the nose. Afterwards, it opened up pleasantly with notes of cedar and sharp, bright cherry. Ruby-hued, medium-bodied, this wine is full of tart berries, a bit of vanilla mid-palate, and big tannins. Surprising to see it's 15% alcohol.
