Nice nose and good balanced fruit on the attack, but there is something that seems bitter or charred that really hurts the finish. The finish just ruins it for me and makes it hard to enjoy.

From the winery's web site: 2009 Poe Pinot Noir - $38.00
Deep amber color with a rich array of berries on the palate. Complex fruit notes of blackberry, black cherry, raspberries, and some very interesting flavors of pie spice. Rich and linear through the palate with impeccable balance. The wine shows the ideal amount of acidity and tannin; making it the perfect food friendly Pinot Noir. Serve at a temperature around 61F.
Vineyard: Corda Vineyard Marin: the vineyard is located one mile from the Sonoma boarder, just a few miles north of San Pablo bay, and only a few miles east of the Pacific Ocean and Tomales Bay. The cool ocean and bay breezes provide for a long growing season, allowing the wine to develop maximum flavor without over ripening. The County of Marin sits along the San Andreas Fault, which has created an incredible diversity of soil. All of these conditions make for an ideal growing location for Pinot Noir.

Great cherry fruits. Acidity near perfect. Slight earthy tones. Good example of California coastal Pinot Noir. Wish I had more.

Nice medium bodied PN. Opened nicely after several hours. Probably needs a year or two as still pretty tight on finish.
