Finally here is a lightly-colored Pinot Noir. Not the most outgoing nose but there is earth and cherries. I should have kept this bottle – it’s so balanced with nice acidity and really ripe, firm tannins that I think it would have been better a few years down the road.

Deep ruby, aromas of dark red fruit, a hint of earth or mineral (almost like iron), then med-bodied, lots of fruit and a slight earthy finish, but bumping up against overripe, with vaguely raisin and plum notes. Not bad, but I'll stick to the 2002 bourgognes and villages at this price point.
