This is quite nice. Denser darker yellow color. A lot going on here. Orchard fruits, spice and an oxidized note as the wine warmed up. This is a blend of a bunch of other Scholium varietals and definitely has the hallmarks of a Scholium white wine. While it could use some more acidity, it is a very interesting and enjoyable wine.

Fascinating stuff. It had an oxidative note and was showing a lot of oak at first, but that eventually settled down. After the oak integrated a bit more, there was a lot going on, including notes of apple, stone fruit, white pepper, and floral tones. I enjoyed how the wine changed over the course of several hours, during which it also warmed up to room temperature. While not for everyone, this is definitely a geeky wine.

Heavy, overpowering oxidized flavors of caramel, butterscotch and tropical fruit. A real mess, and hot to boot. This is truly bad, like a jug wine left out in the sun. No thanks.

A blend of separately barrel-fermented Verdelho (80%), with the remainder a blend of Gewurtztraminer, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Cloudy (unfiltered) lemon of medium (+) intensity. The nose is clean, of medium (+) intensity and moderate complexity, with mostly tropical, stone fruit and caramel aromas. The nose is developed. The palate is dry, with medium (+) alcohol, medium acidity and nice minerality. Flavors of ripe tropical fruit. Medium-bodied, with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. This is a full-bodied white and leaning towards the softer end of the spectrum. It seems heavier, less vibrant and less balanced than the 100% Verdelho Naucratis of the same vintage, however. I am thus questioning the benefits of barrel ageing on the lees with these particular grape varietals. This wine is ready to drink and is at its peak. Well made, but not particularly food friendly due to the alcohol and weight.
