  • Aromas of honeysuckle, flowers, citrus, apricot and sea spray. Flavors of quince, orange marmalade, mineral, hint of vanilla and apricot. Ends with a long finish of 40+ seconds.

  • Courtesy of Allred on Friendsgiving, opened alongside the 2021 Andremily White Cuvee to compare the two newest whites of these wineries. If tasting blind I would have sworn this was a NZ Sauvignon Blanc. The cut grass and cat pee receded somewhat during the course of the evening, but never entirely went away for me. Yes, it is painfully young, but we've been doing this with the SQN for a few years now and the tradition continues. I'll hold my bottles for a few years yet, and there is no hurry after that.

  • A friendsgiving tradition, we always open our first bottle of the newest SQN white. Popped and poured. Deep color. Starts out very grassy, quite reminiscent of a sauv blanc actually, along with citrus fruit. Flavors of spice, citrus and melon are nearly overwhelmed by oak and toasted wood tones. Improved a bit with air, developing a lovely white peach note, but at this stage the oak is a bit much. New oak accounted for only 45% of the barrels used when making this wine, but it really stands out. This will need plenty of time for the wood to integrate. I much preferred the Andremily white opened alongside.

  • Still SO young. Approachable but would do better to age a few more years in the bottle. But stellar stuff.

  • Unique and likely served just a touch too cold. Really fascinating how the weight of fruit is able to balance out the level alcohol on this wine. I understand the criticism of the weight, but call it a guilty pleasure wine of opulence for me.
