Second Sunday Group: 2002 Burgundies (R&D's): Double blind. Fairly nondescript. Notes of herbs and red fruit with a woody quality. Medium-bodied. Stemmy, with red and black fruit mixed in. Turns a bit pruney as it sits, rather ripe and there's hints of bouillon beginning to emerge as well. Prune and ripe black fruit tones on the palate; a bit tannic as well. Tip-toeing that line of being too ripe. Medium finish.

Delicate nose. Good length, body, and acidity. Tannins very present but smooth. In a beautiful place right now. Fruit a bit monotone but showing a nice ripe strawberry.

Iron, dark cherries, and some tar on the nose. Tannins are relatively soft; dark stone fruits, leather, and stewed rhubarb on the palate with some subtle medicinal notes that seem to come and go. A little disjointed out of the gates but seems to pull it together with a little air and time. Drink now.
