  • 1Year on. Still decent value for experience, if not verging on top end price point. My last note still kind of summarizes profile. Extra year in bottle perhaps mellows the experience, but about the same.

  • 89? New at MLCC in Winnipeg. Nice QPR. Solid, popular producer. Unique grape varietal. Seek it out. Looks deep and dark in glass. Nose is similar - with some lightly smoked fruit. Palate is medium to full bodied, smooth, very light on acid and tannin. Lot of dark and brooding fruit. Finish is medium length and fades with a little smokey quality. Last note very eloquent, but I don't appreciate it quite as much. The website suggests this varietal is good for aging and perhaps this is still "young" at 5 yrs now, and I'm not sure if it will get better, likely will, but not by much. This is a great wine is it is and good talking points.

I will (have no room at this point!) buy a few for Holiday season of 2013!

  • The aroma is extremely deep and dark with perfectly ripe black plum tones. Firm notes of black stone, suede and earth frame softer floral tones of hibiscus and rose petals beautifully with a spin in the glass. Even on the nose this wine shows awesome complexity and finesse.

The first word that comes to mind to describe this wine’s flavor profile is black. Black fruit, like berries and cherries, black stone, and black leather all show at once. This is an incredibly dark, but wonderfully refined wine, with an interesting balance of perfectly ripe and dried fruit, as well as stony and floral elements. Everything seems well integrated, from the ripe acidity to the subtle, but gripping tannins. This is a gorgeous wine now, but it could also easily evolve and develop in the cellar for years to come.
