Much better this time around: The brined meats, leather, blackberry, nutmeg and baked ginger spice scents are addictive. Smoldering summer wild berries, just out of the oven blackberry pie, smoked game meats, biltong spices of cloves, green pepper corn with a finish that is replete with tannins. Lively and lasting, this Lewis Syrah was excellent and has many years to live on.

Pop and pour aromatics exposed blueberry, crushed rock, smoked leather and caramel. Dark and earthy on the palate with blackened beef, thyme, plums and Greek olives. Finished smooth as olive oil without any heat. However, after 2-3 hours of aeration, this wine started to fall apart showing some warmth, a heaviness and port like alcohol levels. I believe this to be bottle variation.
