  • Very nice pale color, nose more attuned to a French Chablis than a Cali Chard, grapefruit comes through. Tannins give a nice splash on the tongue with a mild finish. Overall a very nice taste.

  • Enjoyed at Bailey's Prime Plus in Downtown Fort Worth. For true to form chards, this one was a solid 89. Given for lack of complexity, color, and appeal. This is more of a sauv blanc in style. The cork was pulled with about 6-7mm of cork bleed. A rather loose cork in the bottle. The wine was allowed to open in the bottle for about 10 minutes. The wine poured a very light yellow - Sauv Blanc characteristic. The smell out of the glass was lemongrass, kiwi, butter. Initially the taste was quite buttery but as it opened you could tell that this one appeared to be partial malolactic almost all the way through to the full open finish. There was still a citrus front, dominated by tangerine, lemongrass. The middle started to bleed some mango and kiwi, with some lemon appearing again towards the back. The finish was a bit spicy and quite a bit acidic, which also died as the wine opened. Overall, with a steak this wine didn't cut the mustard, but with the crawfish bisque and shrimp cocktail it was pretty good. No oak anywhere. I'm thinking that this is something very unidimensional, and maybe for someone who is a Sauv Blanc lover wanting to get into Chardonnay, this is a great first step. It was a bit light for the heavier foods, and I don't think it really paired very well with the wife's jalapeno bass although the spice did seem to wake up a bit with the jalapeno presentation. I expected more from this wine. All in all, I'm glad I had it in a restaurant instead of outright buying a case and wondering what to do with the other 11. I don't know what kind of life this one will have on it, but I wouldn't imagine it would drink well after 2014.

  • Merry Christmas from Farpointe! (Farpointe Cellar): Buttered popcorn and apple pie on the nose, with spice and citrus on the back end. Less oaky on the palate and much fruitier, with lots of spice on the finish.
