Had this with beef short ribs; it was universally appreciated by the table. Bought in early 2019 from K&L Wines, from a private collection. Very glad to have found this for $40. The tannins were perfect for the unctuous beef.

We had big hopes for this wine, but were sadly disappointed. It was bitter, chalky, and not very pleasant. Cindy wonders if it isn't either suffering from bottle shock (was shipped to us just a couple of weeks ago) or just is past its prime. We're going to hold off a while before trying our other bottle.

Tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bottle provided by Ken Johnson. Bright disc. Opaque garnet/amber robe with orange rim. Clean nose, showing a pleasant, moderately intense bouquet of chocolate, raisins, damp earth, cigar box and leather. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity and tannins which have all but melted away. The flavors mirror the nose. Medium finish. It should be noted that this wine vitually died after being in the glass for 45 minutes (showing only cigarette tobacco on the nose). Any owner of this wine should bear this in mind...It is clearly a "one course wine" at this point.

Excellent cork. Good fruit with some musty notes, soft tannins. Eaten with a mild sausage and polenta. Wonderful for its age!

Better than the first bottle, but not good enough that I want more of it.
