Impressive dark red colour. Strong, intriguing nose with fresh cherries, elderberries, cranberries and a hint of cassis. Slight prickling at the tip of the tongue suggests this wine has a high level of CO2 (which enhances the impression of freshness). Smooth, fresh and full taste with plenty red fruit and ripe-fruit sweetness (2003, the year of the heat wave in Europe). Not at all clumsy and/or stewed, as many burgundies from this hot year. A few remaining tannins suggest further ageing capability. Excellent!
