  • Perfekt. Schon orange in der Farbe.
Auslese wie sie sein muss. Honig. Dabei aber auch nicht zu viel und immer noch schlank. Toll!

  • Perfection.
Half bottle. Intensely focussed pineapple core with hints of other jungle exotics and citrus zest. A steely mineral spine and a vibrant but integrated acidity prevents any cloying. Clean sweetness with little sign of botrytis. Long - very long.
    At its peak.

  • Christmas Day dinner (goose) with wife and eldest.
Four years since my last (.375) bottle and nothing much has changed. Clean pineapple fruit of almost unimaginable concentration but nonetheless racy purity. Little botrytis anywhere on the nose or palate, the sweetness is perfectly balanced by a granitic minerality and fine-honed core acidity. Knowing we had the Boxing Day family dinner to come accompanied a Tarte au Citron and did so perfectly.
I'll stick to my drink by estimate of 2022 as I can't imagine this getting any better with time.

  • New Year's Eve dinner.
As per previous note; the lower mark as much to do with a mismatch with one of the two desserts on offer - a dark chocolate cake concoction - against which this wine had no chance! Accompanied the fruit flan alternative much better.
Confirms my initial view that this fine wine is for sipping on its own.

  • Popped and poured at family Easter holiday dinner.
I am normally critical of wines that have a single character on the grounds of lack of complexity. This is a glorious exception.
PINEAPPLE!! Nothing else on nose or flavour but with a concentration and race and breeding of unmatched majesty.
Intense but subtle sweetness balanced by a superb acidity imitating that of fresh pineapple, but no brutish candy element - or obvious botrytis. Racy clean splendiferous wine.
Tastes as though bottled yesterday, heaven knows how long this will last (and I'm an Atheist!!).
We drank with a pair of trad English puds, but would recommend sipping on its own so as not to pollute this nectar.
