Italians with Friends (Gaja, Giacosa, Biondi-Santi Etc.) (University Circle): My last bottle of this and I wish I had more. This one started quite tight on pop and pour but also kept improving all night long. I was stunned how good it had gotten tasting it at the end of the night. Golden in color. The nose has a creamy peach quality but with age it has picked up a nice mineral/slate (think German Riesling) quality I did not notice in its youth. The palate show a layering not often seen in whites especially under $30. Still some peaches but the fruit is slightly less pronounced and gets less so with air. That is a good thing as the minerals and even a bit of char fill in seamlessly. If you have any, check in, but give it a few hours of air first.

Italians, 2nd Labels of 1st Growths, 95 Prum, +; 10/5/2014-10/6/2014 (Our favorite Italian Place): Not as vivid as a prior bottle I had of this. Seems like it was a bit shut down. It did open with some air though. Light gold in color. The nose is very mineral with a bit of creamy peaches. Not showing as much complexity as I expected. My wife thought it a bit flat and it did lack some of the acidity that the other wines showed. I found it excellent but underperforming my expectations. Oh well, it happens.

2010 Bordeauxs: I really like this wine. The crowd was mixed. It was agreed that this has a lot of fruit but some felt it could use more acidity. Golden/copper in color. The nose is creamy with minerals, vanilla, quince and some peaches. On the palate, lovely mouthfeel. I thought it had a nice balance. There is some bitterness which I really enjoyed. Thought I would mix things up a bit as it was served blind.

Quite a full bodyied wine, with a touch of vanilla (though the acidity and fruit are dominant). Some resin in the nose. Quite a remarkable wine.
