  • A dinner for three (De Bokkedoorns, Overveen, The Netherlands): Huxelrebe, Rieslaner and Scheurebe are in this (half) bottle showing together a very elegant bouquet, specially mango (also in the taste) and a very refined acidity, The balanced combination of mango and the refined acidity worked very well with the accidentally chosen dessert by Peter Bruins...with mango!

  • Glass: Riedel Vinum Riesling
My first Pius! Drunk over two days. Pius is a Cuvee of several grape varietals. IMHO Huxelrebe, Rieslaner and Scheurebe.
Clear, medium amber color. Clean nose that needed some time and air to open up and became medium+ intense. Lots of exotic fruit from Scheurebe, honey, floral notes and very few volatile acidity in the background. Not overly complex but beautiful.
Luscious sweetness, perfectly balanced by the vintage typical extreme acidity. Low 8,5% abv. Medium+ intense flavors of exotic fruit (mango, passion fruit), some herbs. Good balance, creamy, velvet mouthfeel. Long, medium complex finish. This is a really good sweet wine. It lacks a bit the mineral notes of a real great Riesling, but the PQR is really good. This wine is immortal, so no need to hurry. 90-91

  • Far from your classically made BA, this is a study of contrasts. On one hand, one of the TNs correctly (in my opinion) calls this unbalanced. Massively fruit-forward, the acid is pushed all the way back and hardly visible at first. It does show up quite well during the finish. On the other hand, this wine might be a prime example of Terry Theise's definition of "yummy". A crowd pleaser many notches above quaffable, this is like leafing through Cosmo or GQ versus looking at a Mona Lisa from Donnhoff.

I enjoyed this very much. Drink up!

  • Very nice interplay between sweetness and nice acidity. Honeysuckle first, then grapefruit and lime, passion fruit, melon, peach.

  • Nice, complex nose, light golden color, not to "oily". The wine is not very harmonicly: first it is sweet and then comes the strong acid. It is either far too young or not the best wine Keller made..
