18th Annual Central Carolina Food & Wine Festival (Medallion Center, Columbia, SC.): Another well made, well conceived, Cabernet Sauvignon from Washington State. The long hours of sunshine, combined with the desert soil conditions, almost always make these wines lush, fruity, and easy drinking. This offering is no exception. Ripe, and full, while soft, elegant, and light on it's feet. Crimson color. Red fruit nose, with just enough vanilla to show we have some oak on it's way. The entry to the palate is soft red cherry, raspberry, and even some cranberry. Harmonious. Balanced. Not big, just competent. There is a pretty solid hit of oak. Sweet tannins. Fruity, flavorful finish with vanilla, graphite, and cherry.

Tasting good right now, medium bouquet developing of cherries and cassis. Ripe fruit on the palate with some currant and a slight tangerine character.

Really not their best effort. I normally like everything that Barnard Griffin creates, but this was just okay. Not bad, really, just not wonderful.

Ok. Fruity tones. Fairly light for a cab. Not overly impressed. Low tannins.
