This is very nice gruner from an outstanding producer who consistently makes wine that expresses the terroir while allowing the varietal to shine through. An extremely good value for this wine just outside of the Wachau region, it would be recommended as a must-have for everyday drinking or virtually any meal. Hard to find too much of it in the US, but worth seeking out.

lots of power here, and pretty good balance too between ripeness and acidity. not a gentle wine, this is muscular and almost bruising, and not for casual sipping. food, please. i enjoyed this, but i'm not inspired.
Next day - I admit, i was wrong. The wine is much better than I thought initially, it took another day in the decanter to fill out a bit and harmonize - there is lovely flesh to the fruit and this is important because on day one the wine seems aggressive and brutal without much pleasure to offer. interest, but no pleasure. day 2 is completely lovely.

Mineral and austere, but in a good way, and well balanced. The wine seems very true to itself.

Sparing in fruit, very mineral. But actually, more resolved than I remember. Popping acidity, drinking very well now.

Can use some air, recommend a short decant or to open ahead. Nice white peach and white pepper. Great acidity and balance.
