For those who like a more fruit forward wine, this is currently in a great window. Wonderful nose, smoothly integrated on the palette went well on its own with cheese course and beef. One you could serve to guests, and they would be very pleased.

HWS Bordeaux 2009 vs 2010 (By me): More intense than Phelan Segur 2009 in the same flight. Beautiful dark berries and fresh notes in the bouquet. On the palate blackberries and cherries, bell pepper, cedar, juicy and good acidity and still firm tannin. Textbook St. Estephe and really beautiful, but still too young. Waiting another decade will probably be rewarding. 93++

Short decant. Deep in colour. Rich nose with deep ripe blackcurrant, violet, pencil shavings and some hoisin. Really intense on the palate with lots of fresh acidity, very fine tannins and oodles of ripe blackcurrant fruits. A juicy, unctuous wine and really appealing. No rush to drink but super now. Drink now-2030.

Decanted, let breath for three hours, drank over three days. Black fruit on the nose, although somewhat reticent to give off aroma. Big black fruit and some tar on the palate, tannic. Somewhat more tame on day 2 and 3. Enjoyable now, but it's going to get better. Needs 3-5 years to start showing its potential. Hold.
