What a nice wine. I'm so glad I waited. It opens with great complexity. At first sip it's cherry pie in leather with a ton of pepper. This smooths out to forest floor, tuscan dirt and more cherries with a hint of bell pepper. Keep going and bam!! It's anise, berries, floral notes, smooth tannins and a want for another bottle to open in two more years. You who did not wait, I'm sorry.

If your invite to the Estate got lost in the mail, the next best thing to summering with Trudy and Sting in Tuscany is the wine made there. It's Sangio/Cab/Merlot and makes a statement! Deep, dark fruit notes, with much earth, and wood (think road tar and licorice). This could still use a serious decant even though it's 10 years old now. Time is your friend here.

3 hour decant: terrific abundant nose of dark fruit. The taste is complex with dark fruit, moist earth, mineral note and well balanced. Tannins strong and smooth. This is young and if it improves in the recommended drinking window, my score may seem conservative.

Brooding dark fruit, deep earth notes, some minerality and quite firm, grippy tannins. Abit lacking in depth and complexity.
