2002 Lavaux and Champeaux By this point, it was clear that these were just too young and we should have opened them earlier. The oak, in particular, was not integrated, but by no means off-putting or done poorly. Because of their youth, these felt the most similar of any of the previous comparisons. I was surprised after tasting the 2001's, how different these came out and I wonder if simply 2001 Burgundies are drinking a lot better now than 2002.

Bourgogne 2002 horisontal Grand and 1. cru winetasting dinner (20 btls) (Nordsjaelland): Garnet color. Dominated by fruity cherry and raspberry. High acidity, medium tannins, a little burning sensation from alcohol (maybe too late on the evening after more than 20 wines). Long finish.

Young and primary with strong oak flavour on the nose. Needs a few more years to unwrap.
