I don't think this was my long-awaited 'Burgundy Moment', but it was close. Rich, smooth black cherry and some lighter red notes in a medium- to heavy-bodied wine that almost had a Rhone spiciness. Excellent with Copper River salmon.

Tasted with a flight of 2003 Burgundies at importer Robert Kacher's home, with a wonderful meal of grilled duck breast. This baby is a real standout, even in a terrific flight of 3 whites and 14 reds from 2003. Amazingly lush, velvety fruit and lots of power, yet remains supple throughout. From the first glimpse of the wine in the glass, you know this is something special. Doesn't lack tannin and acidity, so it should keep well for a while in the cellar.

Tasted at the domaine. No formal note. Old vines situated just below 1ers Crus Les St-Georges and Les Cailles. This is a super-concentrated wine with deep, dark fruit - as are all of Ambroise's '03s! This also has a bit of oak to it, but I think it has the fruit to hold it and trust it will resolve itslef over time. Just huge.

Very nice and smooth. Black cherry but not too fruity, but not sour or too acidic either - =good balance and good body

International Pinot Noir Celebration; 7/28/2005-8/1/2005 (Willamette Valley OR): Dense and backward black fruit aromas without much charm. Blackberry and plum on palate, clearly ripe and powerful, just not rich or balanced or charming.
