Even if heat damaged, (prob 5-20% off proper form) this bottle is a ravaging treat. Buy all 2010 Auslese possible. Creamy dairy, honey, dried apricot, and a sprinkling of 2010 acid magic.

Color is pale yellow w/hint of green & nice legs from the higher than usual alcohol. Nose > Whiff of SO2 on opening - faded within ~ 90 minutes. Big, fat, exotic, creamy white-peach, key-lime, lychee & sultana. Serious complexity. Piesporter like spicy blackcurrant & licorice. Pure red-cherry juice. Rich, fat lanolin - like a sweet Loire Chenin Blanc. Palate > Very big (12% ABV), fat, but tight. Intense, rich & mineral infused. Creamy rich, fat key-lime, lychee & star-fruit. Pungent, raspingly concentrated, intense fruit. Shows it's rich, creamy, fat side till the mid-flavor, then virtually explodes with deeply intense, sappy blood-orange, lime-flesh & pink-grapefruit. Great length. Great intensity, acidity & back-bone. Great finish & aftertaste. Drinks as if sweetness seems medium/light. Amazing complexity & intensity on nose & palate. Love the size the 12% ABV gives the palate, & this is more than enough wine to handle it.
I'm not (at all!) getting sick of saying WOW! in my 2010 tasting notes. (94+) Sheesh! - How many Home Runs did the Merkelbach brothers hit in 2010?
Big Cheers to 2010! I LOVE this vintage! LOVE this Riesling!

(Merkelbach Kinheimer Rosenberg Riesling Auslese) ($22.00) Sensational fragrance, both amazing fruit and a magma of slate; seriously, this is a monument of terroir, chiseled from a cliff-face of slate, with more sheer gravitas than in many self-important “old-vines” bottlings. 118°, RS an extremely moderate 61g – acidity and extracts off the charts. *
