  I am normally no great fan of sweet wines, but this is simply delicious. Perfect balance between minerality, fruit and acidity. A shame that in the 70's and 80's following the infamous "Weingesetz" from 1971 they flooded the market with sugarwaters that destroyed the reputation of German sweet wines. Even now friends turn away when I tell them I had a delicious Spät- or Auslese and respond . How can you drink this Sugarwater ? If they would try from a respectable producer like the Merkelbachs they would recognize how wrong they are, but so I can still buy a bottle of this great stuff for 8 €.
