Fresh elegant nice spices etc still v young. Still red fruit showing.
I was sadly feeling unwell during my visit to Domaine Ghislaine Barthod, so my tasting really did not do the wines justice. All were well very received by the rest of the group.
Meals in France; 4/30/2022-5/6/2022 (France): Complex array of red berries and cherries on both nose and palate, with good+ weight, better length, and a complex cornucopia of enticing textures. Very good to start, nearly great when finished. Upside from here.

Another Wine Slog Across France; 11/2/2019-11/13/2019 (Paris, Alsace, Burgundy, Encore Paris): Red with fading outer 25%. The aromatics did a 360 degree circle over 2 1/2 hours. It began with menthol, developed into an ethereal, quintessential Burgundy mix of wet soil, perfume, and lilting strawberry, and finally was overtaken by harsher, green, stemmier tones. Light to medium weight, seductive, earthy, gently sweet red berry, and fantastic acidity of the citrus peel rather than cranberry sort. The gorgeous fruit never went away, but as the nose closed, more tannic austerity developed. I read this as entering a dumb stage, but at its apogee today, it was pure pleasure, and like the Rousseau Clos St. Jacques we drank several nights ago, it seemed like the essence of discrete, elegant, unbelievably delicious Burgundy. I'd bank on it. More Barthod, please.

France 2011 - Côte d'Or; 7/8/2011-7/13/2011 (Beaune): Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. This was showing some gassy notes on the nose but underneath was beautiful notes of dark pinot fruit, floral and earth. Great complexity on the nose. In the mouth there’s lots of acidity with firm and powdery tannins. Well-balanced and a silky texture. Minerality coming through on the lengthy finish. This is going to be really good. (91-93+)
