Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • A roller coaster ride- Popped and poured with the goal of taking a look over 2 nights. Barely bricked, very vibrant ruby. Initial old burg dead leaves and smoke. Quickly gets younger and adds an interesting pomegranate note on the nose. The palate starts off grumpy- a bit sour and angry with some hard edges. It slowly starts to smooth out and shows real power, almost shouting: "hey, I'm here." Interesting but not great- vacu-vined and refrigerated over night. Night two- still grumpy, and then almost instantly gives up its attempt to show off and releases its anger and settles into a beautiful, calm wine that I was expecting. A lot of pure cherry fruit on the palate- elegant, still energetic and vibrant.
Fantastic. Next time, 2 hours in the decanter before I touch it.
