  • Pop and pour. Aromas of blackberry, currant, black cherry and graphite. Flavors of blackberry, currant, black cherry, balsamic and earth. Ends with a 40-45 second finish with blackberry and currant notes. Palate was better than the nose.

  • Decanted for two hours. Similiar notes as previous tasting but this one was more fully decanted and so the oak and tannin was better integrated. This hundred acre cuvee lacks the refinement and purity of some of the others though.

  • Popped and poured. Massive wine with concentrated flavors of black cherry, blackberry, mocha, and tobacco. Full bodied, packed with flavors, a bit over oaked, and finishing long this is a bit too young and needs a decant which I didn’t have time to do. Will revisit with another bottle after some more time has passed.

  • This wine is just perfect. Sweet red and black fruits with cherry, blueberry and leather. Tannins are soft and upon opening the nose was wonderful. Whatever issues anyone said in the past are history. I am incredibly impressed to find all the heat gone and what is left is wonderful. This might be my favorite Hundred Acre wine to date. It is hard to give a wine 99 points. I ask who am I to make such an appraisal? Well, I decided that I could ask for nothing more from the wine so the rating is appropriate. The wine is not a fruit bomb, but subtle and very approachable.

I opened it 1 hour before dinner and did not decant. I would not decant. I believe you could open it at dinner and the wine would be approachable. It was terrific with the sirloin steak with black pepper and mushroom sauce. Others had it with a wonderful chicken dish.

  • One of the best, most satisfying, complex wines I have ever tasted! Deep garnet, powerful nose of prunes, dried cherry, chocolate, leather, smoke. Fully developed wine. Palate: dry, medium plus acidity, medium and very smooth tannins, high alcohol, full body, powerful flavors that are very complex and extremely pleasant and satisfying: licorice, dark chocolate, cured meat, complex cooked dark fruit. Finish is very complex with virtual symphony of flavors that linger on the back of the palate. Outstanding wine! Perfect to drink now or can be aged further.
