Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor of plums with a finish of stale pepper. Good balance with nice definition and quite a long finish. The wine would probably have been better by a few points with more airing and with a better wine glass. This is a problem in many restaurants and does significantly detract from the tasting experience, but there isn't much to do about it, unless you stop going. The wine was prototypical of Syrah, and says a lot for California winemakers.

Best showing yet for this wine - I wish I had more. Even a touch better on the second night. Dark cherry, spice (cloves?), bandaids, a hint of cough syrup but this is an elegant, even restrained, wine. A long finish --- damn the bottle is gone. Bravo OJAI.

Points for execution (nice, smooth) if not terribly complicated. Still, a good last bottle.

Juicy. Rich. Good nose. Saturated jammy length. Will it ever be “ready” and perhaps better?

Started off pretty harsh, but opened up pretty quick. Limted nose/complexity, moderate tannins. Ojai Vineyard tasting room.
