  • Aromas of blueberry and Red Vines are the first impression. Cherry and brown sugar molasses were the dominant flavors. These descriptors suggest sweetness but that would not be the case. The wine was balanced, even on the earthy, tannic side with a rich chewy texture. It worked very well with the prime rib, Yorkshire pudding and roasted vegetables.

  • Poured through venturi. Nice deep but clear ruby color; full bodied. Cassis and herbal notes on the nose. Cassis, vanilla, brambles and menthol on the palate. Still plenty of tannins, even after the bottle had been open a couple of hours. Medium finish.

  • Hot, tight and peppery is the first impression, even with decanting and time to relax. Some opening up with the drinking and notes of apricot and licorice, but still shy and reserved. I will cellar my other bottle for a couple of years more.

  • 100% cabernet sauvignon sourced from the phinny hill vineyard. 67% new oak, 58% french, 25% russian, 17% american. 596 cases produced.
i sampled this today, the cork has been pulled for about four hours. interesting mix of black cherry, currant fruit and a green/vegetal expression that is right between green-herbal and green-mint/menthol and a bit of tobacco. some subtle baking spice courtesy of the french oak rounding out the nose. very well balanced on the medium + body. there is definitely fruit but it is matched with the green character all hemed up nicely by medium+ tannins and medium acid. a very well built wine with great character.
