  • This wine should be aged longer. Now, it is offering lots on the nose. The palate is completely dominated by harsh tannins. Smells gorgeous. I want these tannins to subside and integrate. I'm a newcomer to valpolicella ripasso and therefore amarone as well. Clearly these wines are built to be tannic and super structured. But I'd leave this wine cellared for as long as possible hoping the tannins integrate before the fruit and beauty on the nose dim.
There will be a middle ground to be found in 2-3 more years. Or drink now if looking for a delicious mouth coating chew fest. It did pair perfectly with large shell pasta with a sauce of local Connecticut King Bolete mushrooms and broth, tomato, balsamic, garlic, onion, olive oil and good European butter finish. Really good.
