Poured during a Wine Warlock tasting dinner at The Crossing restaurant in Clayton MO... It was my turn to host... Blind, the group loved the wine, expressive nose with very good length on the palate. Several very discerning tasters thought the wine was Grand Cru quality... could have been at a perfect drinking point however the wine had depth and breadth of flavor with a substantial mid palate. My first bottle I was very please at how this showed among this group.

This is the third time I have had this wine, and while it is softening up a bit and rounding out, it remains over-oaked and still has a hard finish. I double decanted it two hours early in hopes of improving it, but I think that was a mistake - the small sample I had when I first opened it was better than when it was served with dinner, and it grew harder and less pleasant as it warmed and breathed. Perhaps another five years will help it, and the next time I will pop and pour. Its best feature is its intense bouquet of honey and oak, which is quite impressive (92). The palate tells a different, less happy story (75).

Tasted at Chateau. Honey, rich pear, big oak, but well integrated. M acid, but you don't miss it and it is delicious. Exotic spice. Semillon really comes through in this wine.

This is special. Very intense and concentrated. Secondary flavours are soaring from the glass. Some toasty oak as well. Very good indeed.
