  • Bone dry and mineral but with and amazing orange fruit expression. Mandarin and cold butter meets the nose with a slight herbal note such as an “Althea hard candy” (perhaps a danish thing).
Concentrated in the mouth and a medium long finish. Very dry and quite high acidity.
This version is NV but was purchased in France around 10 years ago so surely have some age characteristics. However in no way tired but in a really fine place. Frank over three days and kept opening more and more up for each passing day.
    A bargain for the price.

  • Excellent. Richly aromatic with ripe peaches and dried apricots, grilled almonds and a very gentle touch of wood glue. A lot of tasting notes comment on the similarities to Vin Jaune, which are many, but it lacks its marmite-y intensity - no bad thing, in my books, when it is still so wonderfully complex. Good but not overbearing acidity with just a tiny hint of phenolic grip.

  • Had this with HK style steamed fish and it was incredible. Deep lemon in the glass. Rich tropical aromas of pineapple, cantaloupe, green melon, mango with slight touches of that oxidative, vin jaune style. Full-bodied with moderate acidity and high, punchy alcohol which is flawlessly integrated with everything. For such a high alcohol (15%+), this is drinking smoothly with almost no weight. Long, silky finish. Love it and would buy again.

  • Not a fan of oxidative whites but this one is very delicate, the oxidation not overbearing. Nose of almonds, touch of citrus, Sherry notes. Dry palate, pleasant to drink on its own and excellent with cheese.

  • Super well-balanced and quite complex. Oxidative, yet clean in the fruit and young in its expression.

First of all powerful aromas with clear Vin Jaune and Sherry vibes (but less extreme): Oxidation, yeast from voile/flor, walnut, brown windfallen apples, dry hay, Comté, Meyer lemon, wax, honey, freshly baked bread, mild spicy notes from the oak and a good chalky scent. Lots of fruits too; ripe pear, quince and dried fruits like apple, pineapple, papaya and ginger).
Medium+ bodied, soft edges, good concentration and minerality and a refreshing acidity. Again some Vin Jaune vibes, but milder, with quince, lemon peel, mild caramel, dried apricot, roasted pines and a stony and chalky minerality. Some dried/candied yellow fruits too.
