Sexy stuff. Give it plenty of air. I initially found it too sleek, too opulent, without any of the defining friction that would allow the wine and me to just, exist, you know? A day later, everything seems to fit into place far better. It's definitely hedonistic - big, buffed (not buff) tannins and glossy cherry juice flavours, but there's a lot more going on. Warm, damp earth, macerated strawberries, poached plums, prunes, cigar box and fallen redwoods (I smelt this quite recently). Plenty of acidity, and a little of the graininess that I always associate with 'artisanal' (whatever that means...) Tempranillo. If you've tried Lopez de Heredia, you'll know what I mean - grainy as hell!

Disappointed by this, unfortunately. Fairly reticent nose - hay? Lees ageing prominent on palate - that funny vomit-like note. Someone (I think Clemens Busch, who knows a lot about the lees) once told me that this vomit-like note is the product of either too much batonnage or not enough. Wish I could remember which!

Found this a little anonymous. Concentrated and with a certain grainy richness, but without much identity or distinction.
