When I had initially purchased it I was a bit afraid that I may have been over the hill but to my surprise it was drinking relatively well. A bit muddy initially but quickly opened up with soft perfumed fruits, notes of soil coupled with acidity and tannins that balanced well with the strength of the fruit. I wouldn't say the wine is at its prime but for those who enjoy their wines with more tertiary flavors this wine could be a unexpected treat.

Wine was properly stored from purchase upon release until consumed. Bouquet immediately open and elegant. Berries and cherries in the bouquet, some walnuts. Paired with New York Strip, it beautifully complimented the meal. Began to fade after 30 minutes. Enjoy it now.

Wow what a surprise - not because this was the best wine I’ve ever tasted BUT the condition it was in after 33 years is unparalleled except for super high end Napa or 1st Growth Bordeaux. Plenty of fruit and tannins - only knock is the lack of integration. Usually wines 33 years old are subtle, integrated and silky - this is fruit forward and young - 5 years remaining but absolutely drink now.
Drank at Bern's Steakhouse on Thanksgiving. Cherry, cedar and earth on the nose. Good fruit left on the tongue with a medium finish. Good aged bottles should be drinking really good.

Attractive if not subtle.
