tobacco leaf, leather, loam earth, black currant, cherry, dried herbs, and sweet spice
pulled from the CDV cellar itself, extremely lucky to have been with a friend who has been supporting them for years. classic napa. the 70-80 napa's were something else.

This 41 years old bottle is still drinkable. First day too acidic, lot of sediments. Filtered and getting ready for second day. At second day it has open, but slightly better. At third day was gone...

Very disappointing. Tasted funky from the beginning. Waited a day for the wine to blossom but it never did. Did not taste corked, but old, stale and possibly improperly stored. Very little fruit. I did notice a change in color from amber to a reddish hue over 2 days. Glad I only bought a 375.

Pop & poured a small glass, then let bottle sit for an hour. Drank half bottle over the course of 2 hours, recorked and put back in the cellar. The wine was leafy, earthy with little fruit but some nice acid. Not bad, but disappointing. Drank the other half the next day and what a transformation! The beautiful cabernet fruit came about with such finesse, there was such a good balance of fruit & acid, with just hints of earth and leaf. Shocking! 12.2% abv. Rating is for the 2nd day.
