Seems to be at the tail end of its drinking window. The nose is showing its age. The palate isn't showing much by way of varietal. Finish is short and its a bit ambiguous in general. Not bad, not good.

Very dark. Full in the nose dark fruit, blackberry, bit creamy. Tomato, carrot. Dark ripe fruit. Jammy. Short finish. Although I am not experienced in judging such I believe this bottle has past its peak.

{screwcap, 13.5%} bricking garnet; looks old for 8 years. Nose confirms this; it's very advanced, with tobacco/cigar notes, composting leaves, dried herbs, but all in a new-world, over-developed way, not to be mistaken for classic Bdx. The palate is engaging enough initially, with twiggy flavours, currants, and an assortment of black fruits. The tannins are very fine but quite prominent, emphasised by the reticent, even fading, fruit; it's no more than medium-bodied, but more disappointing is the way it dissolves so fast on the finish. Dry and dusty, and getting astringent. I'd advise drinking this as soon as possible on this showing, and with lowish expectations. Coonawarra should do better than this.

An assortment of dark fruits. Black currant, blackberry, black cherries. Some red currant too and that Coonawarra choc mint. Bit of the cigar box thing going on as well. Oak is definitely noticeable but it's not distracting in any way. Still youthful with many years to go.
