First of case. Despite the lauded vintage this isn’t up to their usual standard. It’s a touch thin, the summer fruits, whilst pleasant, aren’t particulry well intergrated, the tannins are a little clumsy. Seams fullly mature but perhaps it’s in an awkward phase. I’ll leave the rest for a couple of years and hope it knits together. Wines from here have been consistently very through good vintage and bad so this is a definite surprise. Hope springs eternal.

This is the alternative label for Bois de Boursan, the wine is the same. Terrific, old-fashioned Chateauneuf du Pape with a funky, animal marked nose. Fresh, red-fruited palate with marks of spices and pepper. Delicious to drink young even though this will have much more to offer in a decade. Refreshing to drink a Chateauneuf that's not heavy and heady. Well done.

[J&B Rhone tasting] Probably too young. Hard to tell how much air it got. Expected more. Preliminary rating 87.
