Tasted among Flaccianello, Trapiche Orellana Malbec & Vinha Maria Teresa Crasto. Deep purple with a tight and very oaky nose possibly aged in 100% new highly toasted oak. Black fruit and sweet spice together with meaty notes on the background. Solid on palate with zesty acidity and medium + firm velvety tannins that need time. Mid-palate lacks great concentration and volume. Medium + legth. After 3-4 years.

Tasted blind and then drank over lunch with friends. The weakest of the 4 wines we tasted, with overripe, raisiny fruit, intense oak and heat from the alcohol. Full-bodied with firm tannins and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste.

A supposed prestige cuvee from Alpha Estate which fails to convince. Nose has black jammy fruit that verges on overripeness, overoaked with some greenness. Mid-palate is somewhat hollow and alcohol is evident. So a wine that is supposed to deliver much but fails to do so. Almost porty nose without the concentration in the palate to match.

Dark purple, dense, very enjoyable wine, decant for 2 - 3 hours for best results.
